March, 2020: Nothing scheduled at this time, because everybody is (or SHOULD be) in isolation, because of stupid COVID-19. But I’m still making art, working on new pieces based on the theme “Safe Space vs Unsafe Space.”
PAST EVENTS
The best local new-and-used bookseller, BOOKMAN in Orange, let me hang my weird stuff all over their store for a month! Opening Night Reception was held on November 23rd, 2019, from 6pm-8pm. I sold art prints and lurked amongst the shelves. It was a great opportunity to encourage friends to support an awesome indie bookseller!
On Saturday, March 16th, 2019, I tabled at AnaCon at the Anaheim Public Library from 11am-4pm. FREE EVENT! Comics creators and sci-fi authors! I also moderated a panel on how comics can help engage reluctant readers. Details: I was at Table 19, and the panel was 2pm-3pm, downstairs.
In September 2018, I tabled at Long Beach Zine Fest 2018, with zines, art prints, stickers, comics, and little surprises. #LBZF18

In February 2018 I'll be tabling (sitting at a table and selling my dubious wares) at the Anaheim Public Library's "AnaCon," which is like a mini local Comic-Con type thing. 2/10/2018. Free event!
In October 2017 I'll be doing "CRUMPET," a solo art exhibition/zine release at the Hibbleton in Fullerton's Magoski Arts Colony. Opening reception is Friday, October 6th, from 6pm-10pm during the Fullerton Art Walk. I'll be showing various artworks, and premiering my new indie mini-comic, "Crumpet." 32 pages of "variety comics." Basically, all the comics stuff I do that's not specifically library-related. There will even be appearances by the Skelebunnies, Buttwing, Heenie, and others...
In August 2017 I will be tabling at OC Zine Fest on Saturday August 19th. I will be promoting my new "Smells Like Library: the Collected Comics Vol.3!"
BIO
Tommy Kovac is a writer, artist, creator of various independent things, and library technician.
His first comic book was released in 1999, and his work has been published by SLG Publishing, Disney Press, and OC Weekly. He has also done freelance commission work, and graphic design for T-Shirt companies.
Kovac has created and distributed independent works such as zines and mini-comics, and does a periodic web-comic called "Smells Like Library."
